Who We Are
We are Mark & Tammy Herrmann & we live in Washington, IL. We have been married 35 yrs. & have a married son & daughter. We personally placed our faith in Jesus Christ in 2000. We attend & are members of Bethany Community Church in Washington, IL. & are both personally active in their Biblical Counseling and Discipleship Ministry along with other church commitments.
God Provides Vision
While participating in a Bible Study in 2010, we are challenged as a couple to pray that God would share with us how we could practically live out our Christianity. God answers by giving us a deep compassion for hurting single women & their children. We had some personal experiences that helped us identify this great need.
Walking by Faith
We decide to sell our home in Goodfield, Il. During this time Tammy’s sister, Debbie passes away unexpectedly from heart failure & leaves in her estate a Historic 1867 home at 511 Walnut St. in Washington to her children. They could not maintain the home & it was threatened by foreclosure. God provides a way & we are able to buy the home from the bank. It was shortly after the purchase of the home that God made it clear this would be the home He desired to meet the spiritual & physical needs of hurting single women with or without children.
God Provides Resources
What does one do with a deteriorated home & no extra money to renovate? In 2-1/2 years God in His faithfulness provides the needed resources! Prior to our opening we had over 200 different volunteers, thousands of labor hours, 20 different area churches, Washington Community partners, & $120,000 in donations. One of our most treasured gifts from God was a dedicated 80 yr. old retired architect who ran/organized the entire renovation project from the beginning to end.
God in Control
We opened the doors of MSH Ministry August of 2013 offering the envisioned services of Biblical Counseling & Gospel-Centered discipleship, community, & care.
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, & to him who has no might He increases strength.
Isaiah 40: 28-29
